Norton System Works / Anti Virus 2005 and ICUII
If you are starting iCu2 and being met with warnings from Norton Anti Virus or Norton System Works (2004 and 2005 versions) related to "Norton Internet Worm Protection has detected and blocked an intrusion attempt" (as seen to the left) or if you find that you cannot receive calls and all Quick Messages are slow to download and have not previously configured your Norton software for iCu2 please view the information below:
This is Norton's security system producing false alarms regarding the security of your computer. Norton sees activity on the ports (TCP 2000 and TCP 2001) that iCu2 uses to deliver Quick Messages and Calls to you and decides that it is an attack on your computer. iCu2 cannot and will not give you a trojan, worm or virus.
To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below
Open Norton System Works / AntiVirus 2005
Click on Options, then select Norton AntiVirus
Select "Internet worm protection" from the list on the left
Click on General Rules button
Click on Add
Select permit
Select Any computer
select TCP and UDP
Select Only the types of communication or ports listed below
Click on Add
Select Port Range
Select Local
Then enter this:
Start: 2000
End: 2001
Click on OK
"Local Ports 2000-2001" should then be listed.
Click on Next
Click on Next
Name it, "iCu2 rule"
You should then see a summary of the rule you have created. Click on Finish
If you are having problems calling people and you get an error message that states "no route to host" or people have issues placing call / connect requests to you. Perform the additional step below.
Click on the AutoBlock Rules button (as seen below)

7: If you see any entries in "computers currently blocked by AutoBlock" (screenshot below), click on the Unblock All button. You may also want to remove the tick / check from Turn on AutoBlock. However this should not be required.
The reason for this is that Norton has most likely added the IP address of any iCu2 users that tried to call or QM you when you had the Internet Worm Detection blocking the ports that iCu2 requires to function. After clicking on Unblock All. Click on OK

8: Start iCu2 and Norton should pop up one last Security Alert stating that it has detected a remote computer trying to access your computer. Select "Permit" then click on OK and your Norton should now be setup to function correctly for iCu2.

Please note that iCu2 does not and cannot transmit any virus, trojan or worm onto your system. Quite simply Norton's method of detecting malicious intrusion attempts leaves alot to be desired and in turn causes the issues you are experiencing.
